Damon Table

A slab table made from Silver Maple that grew onsite.

A young couple commissioned this multi - year project to coincide with planned expansion of their home. Their renovation required the removal of a sizable Silver Maple. This tree was milled into lumber, air dried, then fashioned into a dining room table for their new space.

Silver maple stacked for air drying after being cut into boards with a portable chainsaw mill.

After the log was cut into boards with a portable chainsaw mill, pieces were stacked in order with wooden spacers. Stacking the pieces like this allows for proper airflow during the curing process and keeps the pieces in attractive order, enabling easy bookmatching when it is time to work the boards.
